- The purpose of this piece is to remember what we were like when we were young.
She was moving back and forth on the balls of her feet and from far away, it seemed as if she was dancing. Her baby blue eyes sparkled in the dark bowling alley and her blond hair-almost white- was practically glowing in the dark. She was around 5 years old but with her petite figure she could have passed for 4. She looked so careless and free running around with her friends and screaming when the kid who was "it" would come close to her. The blue dress that matched her eyes made it obvious that she was dressed for a special occasion.
Angel was the birthday girl, and even though she wasn't getting all the attention, she seemed content. She didn't mind the fact that her friends were running around and not paying much attention to her. She was quite timid and preferred to follow rather than lead. as the parents to herd the kids towards their lanes, Angel walked fast, almost tripping over her over sized bowling shoes. She wasn't very clingy to her parents but knew the rules. As they showed the kids how to bowl , Angel was attentive and engaged.
She grabbed the first ball and tottered over to the lane. She thought about it for a minute and then let the ball fall from her hands, towards the pins at the end of the alley. She turned around smiling , waiting for everyone to applaud but everyone was busy doing something else. She smiled to herself, walked to the lane and picked up the bowling bowl once more.
